Description

This Kellison fiberglass framed and bodied Auto was built in the late 50's and early 60's. Kellison also built fiberglass boats and raced the cars. It was very much ahead of it's time. The few that were built were raced on a variety of tracks as well as street driven. They typically weighed under 2000 pounds and were very low to the road even with 5 inches of ground clearance, like 41 inches from top of the roof to the road. They were a very exciting car to drive or ride in. The one my Brother built in 1959 had a 318 Chrysler V8 with a torqueflite Automatic transmission. Even with such a small engine it screamed, also hung onto the road like a slot car on a track. This one is not my brothers as we lost track of his. I found this one by accident. It was parked in an old garage, probably parked beside the garage, and the garage was built around it, see photos. I would guess it had very few miles on it considering the nice condition the car is in. I believe the motor was blown up and parked, never to be driven again. I believe it probably had a small block Chevy engine which is not in the car but some parts indicate this is what it had. It has a coil spring front suspension(some people say it had an early Corvette suspension), I don't know. It has leaf springs in the rear. The car is a roller now, and I'm sure with a motor and transmission installed it would be a driver. The frame is a very nice box tube frame. The fiberglass body is in excellent condition. The dash has instruments in it, I believe Stewart Warner gauges and fiberglass bucket seats. I bought this car for myself to keep but time has passed me up and don't think I will ever be able to get it back on the road. I would like to sell this car to somebody that has a true interest In restoring it back to it's original state and better, with all the refinements that are available today that weren't available back then, and enjoy a very nice and unusual auto. I have stored the car in a climate controlled shop since I bought it in 2007. Please call me if you have a serious interest, no text. I will be happy to visit with you about the Kellison cars. I will entertain fair and reasonable offers, I will not give it away.
